Why we ask: We ask because the per diem depends on the country, and the trip's timing decides how much of the daily rate you are entitled to.
Each country has its own daily per diem rate (for example Czechia 600 CZK, Germany €45). What counts is when you cross the state border. The hours abroad for each day of the trip are calculated from that.
